History

In 2006, Danny Kim, CTO of Full Armor Corp., was invited to join a mission team to Miryalaguda, India, through the non-profit organization Share Him. During the trip, Danny visited a boarding school in Hyderabad and witnessed firsthand how education can be the greatest equalizer.

He realized that if a child from the lowest level of India’s caste system receives a quality Christian education, it can transform not only the life of that child, but also their family, extended relatives, and the entire village. With this conviction in mind, he wondered, “Why not establish a boarding school in a rural village near Miryalaguda?”

The answer seemed clear but to the locals, such a project would be too costly, and land in the area never comes up for sale.

But on the final day of Danny’s trip, a remarkable opportunity emerged. A 13-acre plot of land—with running water and electricity—unexpectedly came up for sale in Miryalaguda for “half price.” Standing on that land with Pastor Bob Robinson (Assistant of Development for the Southern Asia Division) and Pastor PJ (Conference President of Andhra Pradesh), the three men were moved to tears. They knew God had brought them together for a single purpose: to establish what would become the Bob Robinson Memorial SDA School - a Christian boarding school for rural village students! A final confirmation of divine providence came when the wire transfer for the land purchase matched the exact asking price—down to the rupee (worth just one-tenth of a U.S. penny!).

The school opened in 2007, and within the first three years, enrollment exceeded 250 children. Support poured in from donors and church groups around the world, funding the construction of a main education building, chapel, boys’ and girls’ dormitories, faculty housing, and a cafeteria. Every student is sponsored by a foreign donor, and the school has drawn mission teams from many church organizations.

Since its founding, the school has been at the heart of a spiritual movement—resulting in more than 150,000 baptisms in the region. Our long-term vision is to expand K–12 enrollment to 1,500 students, continuing to bring hope, education, and faith to rural farming communities.

Why India?

We often get this question, "why India?"  Why not "Korea" or somewhere else?  When God's spirit is moving and you get a call, you just follow.

In 2007, South East Asia division was the fastest growing region with people being open to the gospel.  God's Holy Spirit is pouring down in India.  The harvest is ready and there are not enough workers.  Within India, Andrah Pradesh is the region with the largest growth in baptism.  The governor or Andrah Pradesh is a Christian and has opened up his region to the Christian movement.
